Students can take the following Metro lines to reach their school location. Students are walked to the bus stops after school by staff.

• MIDDLE SCHOOL: W1 and A2 and the NH1 are the closest bus lines.  
• HIGH SCHOOL: The Potomac/Eastern Market bus lines go by the school.

• Digital Pioneers Academy provides school transportation to transport siblings from our High School (on 12th street) to our Middle School (on 9th Street) in the morning and then returned to our 12th Street High School in the afternoon.

Digital Pioneers Academy is a free public charter school open to all DC students. DPA does not charge tuition.

• DPA is open to all DC students.
• We are currently enrolling scholars for grades 6th-11th for the 2023-2024 school year. We will add 12th grade in 2024, becoming a 6th -12th grade school.

• Digital Pioneers Academy offers a college-prep curriculum. Students study English, math, social studies, science, and physical education.
• Students study computer science and robotics.
• We empower students to develop the computer science skills and habits of innovation to experience a future of choice.

• Students can participate in volunteer clubs, including student council, National Society of Black Engineers Jr., yearbook, manga/anime, and young entrepreneurs.
• Each year, we expand the types of clubs offered based on student interest.

• The school day is 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Yes, all scholars are required to wear uniforms.

• Top: Digital Pioneers Academy green polo or white button-down shirt
• Bottom: Any charcoal gray pants OR any charcoal gray joggers OR the Digital Pioneers Academy green and gold plaid skirt
• Shoes: Any solid black shoes
• We will have extra uniforms at the school for students to change into.

• Students receive their own computers to use throughout the school day.
• Students also have access to computers after school to complete homework assignments.

• We provide students with a healthy and delicious breakfast and lunch.
• While students are welcome to bring their own meals, meals at school are available free of charge to students.

DPA is committed to providing a safe learning environment for our scholars. COVID-19 has presented many challenges to in-person learning and DPA has implemented the following protocols: 

• Students and staff are encouraged to wear masks and maintain social distance.  
• Students learn in mostly self-contained classrooms and do not typically change classrooms. 
• All surfaces are cleaned daily and classrooms have excellent air ventilation systems. 
   

• We are committed to educating all students, especially those with diverse learning needs.Any family can request a special education evaluation to determine whether their child needs an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We educate students in the least restrictive learning environment and our teachers meet individual learning needs.

• Digital Pioneers Academy is currently offering in-person learning.  We monitor and follow health and safety guidelines from DC Public Schools.
• Only students who have an approved medical waiver can participate in virtual learning. 

Digital Pioneers Academy participates in the common application and common lottery for the District's public school options. The priority lottery timeline starts in December and closest beginning of March. For the 2023-2024 school year, the priority lottery ends on March 1, 2023. You can apply here. • Students are given preference in the school lottery if they have a sibling who already attends Digital Pioneers Academy.  
• Families should identify the sibling preference in their MySchoolDC application.

DPA submitted its charter application in March 2017, and full approval in June 2018 from the D.C. Public Charter School Board. The full application can be viewed here.
