Special Assistant to the CEO Mission

To serve as a Special Assistant to the CEO (SA) at Digital Pioneers Academy (DPA), a 6th-12th grade college preparatory school that will consistently rank as a Tier 1 Washington, DC public charter school. Our mission is to develop the next generation of innovators. We are committed to ensuring 100% of DPA scholars graduate from college and secure a high paying, high demand job.

Position Summary

We seek an energetic, ambitious, and well-organized individual to provide a range of support functions for the Founder and CEO.  The Special Assistant will work closely with the CEO on all aspects of her role at DPA, with a particular emphasis on start up functions for the planning and launch years. The role is part management, part administrative assistance, and part research and writing. In addition to reporting to the CEO, the Special Assistant will work closely with the Board of Directors and a team of consultants.

The ideal candidate will be interested in pursuing a long term career in education, and motivated to use this position to pursue senior leadership roles as DPA grows. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Provide startup administrative and writing support during DPA’s planning and launch years

  • Function as a point of contact and liaison with executive team, staff, and partners/constituents

  • Serve as a collaborative partner to the CEO, working as a sounding board, on a variety of topics and in a variety of situations

  • Assist CEO with board and community meeting preparation; prepare monthly updates

  • Manage communication with key internal and external parties, demonstrating an awareness of time-sensitive issues and prioritize accordingly

  • Provide general administrative support including preparing expense reports, drafting correspondence, and answering and screening incoming calls and emails

  • Other related duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree required 

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in education 

  • Minimum 1- 2 years experience working in operations and/or administrative support

  • Experience working with education preferred

  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, work independently and work well under pressure

  • Must possess superior written and oral communications skills

  • Adept at using a number of platforms, including but not limited to G-Suite, Mailchimp, and Squarespace
