The Leadership Fellow will serve as a member of the school’s leadership team, and contribute to the team as a teacher and leader and while developing the necessary skills and abilities to serve as a future leader.

A successful Digital Pioneers Academy Teacher will ensure that all DPA scholars meet the highest academic and behavior standards. We are committed to creating a community where every scholar and adult feels known, loved and respected. Teachers’ investment in building culture and character will prepare scholars to lead productive lives meeting the demands of the post-secondary arena and job market.
Teachers at DPA believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels. Teachers will hold primary responsibility for implementation of Digital Pioneers Academy's curriculum, creating corresponding experiences, and ensuring the success of its scholars. Teachers will provide rigorous educational experiences to propel scholar intellectual growth and mastery of learning standards.

Leading an outstanding school requires leaders who can inspire students and teachers, are willing to do whatever it takes, and project urgency about providing our innovators with the opportunities they deserve. DPA leaders use frameworks like servant leadership and radical candor to communicate and hold each other accountable to achieve our ambitious goals. We make decisions, conduct difficult conversations, and build a highly collaborative team, all while shaping a vibrant school culture.
Phase One: First Half of the Year

Attend new staff training in the summer/mid-year orientation.

Teach full time, while internalizing DPA’s mission, values, adult and scholar culture.

Lead an after-school sport or activity for a small group of scholars.

Receive formal and informal feedback and coaching from Principal/CEO and other instructional partners and team members.

Create an individualized learning plan and receive targeted coaching from the Principal/CEO.

Build essential leadership mindsets and skills and assess progress on your leadership effectiveness regularly.
Phase Two: Second Half of the Year

Work as an essential member of a school leadership team, including coaching DPA teachers and supporting professional development planning and execution.

Align on goals for the year with Leadership/CEO.

Clarify school roles and responsibilities with the Principal/CEO so that you are making a big impact and targeting your own growth areas.

Begin planning for your future leadership role, including: developing a readiness, leading school events and recruitment, and preparing for onboarding.

Meet regularly with the Principal/CEO for targeted leadership coaching.
Teaching Responsibilities
Our high school teachers are results oriented and strive to improve the minds and lives of scholars in and out of the classroom by:

Developing strong relationships with parents and scholars, creating investment in school culture and academics

Implementing curricula and activities to meet academic standards and push the rigor of the content

Designing assessments that measure progress towards academic standards

Using assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices

Driving academic outcomes by analyzing scholar work and data, and implementing high leverage instructional moves to ensure dramatic gains for all scholars

Participating in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
-
Collaborating with grade level teachers to create consistent structures and systems for your shared cohort of scholars
-
Serving as an advisor to a small group of scholars
Skills & Experience

Effective communication with scholars, families, and colleagues

Cultivate a classroom environment in which scholars express a love for learning

Motivate scholars to think critically and take ownership over their own learning

Orchestrate innovative problem solving through multiple representations, meaningful discourse, and productive struggle

Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for scholar behavior

Be accountable for scholars’ mastery of academic standards

Collaborate with colleagues and school leaders to receive targeted, in-the-moment feedback on instruction

Evidence of self-motivation, diligence and willingness to be a team player

Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
Qualifications
-
Required experience:
-
At least 4 years of teaching experience;
-
At least 1 year of experience coaching or leading teachers (e.g., grade level chair, content/department chair, Assistant Principal, Dean of Curriculum, etc.)

Strong content knowledge
-
Bachelor's degree with an outstanding record of academic achievement and leadership is required; Master’s degree is preferred

Compensation & Benefits
Digital Pioneers Academy offers a highly competitive salary based on education and experience. Teachers generally make between $60,000 and $85,000 per year. Digital Pioneers also offers an excellent and comprehensive benefits package for all full-time staff.
